First of all not all of the convicts would've commited violent crimes, second of all the laws were much stricter around then than now and a certain amount of those convicts were poor and starving and had to steal food to survive and got convicted, third of all people who weren't convicts moved over there after it was colonized and there was more of them? than there were convicts, and fourth of all that generation is already gone and doesn't have any affect on the genes of? the later generations.
