We are looking for ways to make interaction with our vehicles natural and intuitive. With this in mind we implemented a demo for fast, dynamic interaction with a quadrotor vehicle using the Kinect in the Flying Machine Arena. This demo is the result of a ETH Zurich Bachelor Thesis by Armin Ambühl, supervised by Sergei Lupashin and Raffaello D'Andrea More Info: www.FlyingMachineAre na.org

This short video was recorded in the UK. The model as flown by Ali Machinchy was an Airworld Hawker Hunter - The estimated cost to build this model was over £10000. Unfortunately, this model was totally destroyed on Saturday 9th May 2009, when it took it's last flight, all control of the model was lost, resulting in this amazing crash and fireball.

Just before they hit the ionization blackout. search youtube "Never Heard Before!? Shocking Final Words Of Space Shuttle Columbia" and hear the pilot say "feeling the heat" at 2:38. Those were the last words out of the shuttle.
By: T1Brit. on 25 May 12, 07:48:25
He is saying that the shuttle design was badly flawed and an accident waiting to happen - that the external tank ( LOX-H ) was only? there to fuel the onboard engines ( Von Braun junk ) and that they were not even needed to get the shuttle into orbit, the solid rocket boosters ( SRB ) could have done it. It was the tank that bust a hole in the heat shield and doomed the shuttle, and they didn't even do a sacewalk to look at the damage. The shuttle did indeed kill many astronauts.
By: withaminutetogo. on 23 May 12, 20:48:48
This guy did a great job of keeping things? together under those circumstances.
By: 456swagger. on 20 May 12, 16:41:04
Lots? of audio missing from this clip. The Flight Director loses a shuttle and crew and gets promoted to Deputy Director. Yep that's NASA.
By: pluje31. on 16 May 12, 15:25:35
Yes, that was the flight director, LeRoy Cain (who later became the Deputy Director of the Space Shuttle Program at the end). The personnel in Mission Control were personal acquaintances of the astronauts and trained with? them for months, so they all felt a personal as well as professional loss.
By: pluje31. on 16 May 12, 15:17:55
What a sad day this was. I know the flight controllers are all well trained for everything, including even something like this, but even so, I was amazed at how well they held up, and their level of professionalism when they became aware of what had happened. They were still able? to handle all of the details of the contingency plan and to insure that all available data were carefully preserved for later investigative purposes. An excellent job indeed under the most trying of circumstances.
By: grungehack. on 16 May 12, 03:51:32
Trolls nowadays? are just sad.. BTW this same post is on a ton of shuttle videos.
By: gregnice25. on 15 May 12, 01:42:18
when the flight director(correct me on who the guy's position is) said "GC flight, GC flight, lock the doors" and he put his head down and then place his hand over his head....,man, those few seconds of his movements=just sad....people who risk their lives to do things for humankind, do things for space research, go beyond where most people will never go in their lifetime....their lives were in their hands....and to? see and know your crew just died and not coming back...that's a tragedy!
By: gregnice25. on 15 May 12, 01:34:25
hahahaha, i'm trying to figure out the language? too....
By: ItalianBandit. on 14 May 12, 00:38:15
So when did the shuttle brake up exactly...? I am? but a layman in NASA terms. At least Apollo 13 had "Houston We've Had A Problem."
By: ItalianBandit. on 14 May 12, 00:24:12
No more? beeps after each transmission?

By: evilemperordude. on 11 May 12, 23:39:47
I read that over multiple times, and I still can't figure? out that the hell you're talking about.
By: wmansue. on 10 May 12, 23:37:31
TWhen you have a fake space program and your using space junk designed to blow up then you end up killing human people! The SS design was flawed from the get go and it was not the SRBs but the ancient Von Braun junk known as the SSMEs and the stupid LOX-H tank! The SRBs made enough thrust for orbit. No SSMEs, no LOX-H Bomb, no falling Insulation. No disasters. So, maybe a bruised wing__no space walk? Martian Klan? at it's best killing human Gentiles in space.

By: AShadowbox. on 23 Apr 12, 23:52:11
They actually didn't know. The foam strike that occurred on take off hit the leading edge of the wing, made out of super-hardened carbon-carbon fiber. It was thought to be indestructible, so the foam strike caused 0 concern. It wasn't until the investigation afterwards they aerospace engineers realized: it was the? god damn foam strike.

They could have launched but at the expense of hurting or killing someone else cutting? corners and omitting certain test during launch preps. This could put the rescue crew in danger.
By: zF15z. on 22 Apr 12, 16:38:27
well it wouldn't? be that expensive, I reckon the public would pay a few bill to rescue some astranauts, besides surely a russian rocket could have launched for cheaper and brought them back home from the space station?
