F22 weapons bay demo, backflip, flat spin
Posted by: StaKind85
Video duration: 145 seconds
Awesome backflip and spin at around 1:40. F22 at Charleston Air Expo 2008, Thrust Vectoring, backflip, horizontal rotation, weapons bay open, post-stall. Yea yea we know the SU-37 does tighter vectoring...in public. USAF will not show the public everything we can do. Both are simply amazing warplanes, period.

thats funny.....since the su-47 is an experimental/Technology demonstrator and only 4 are in existance....? and since the f-22 is stealth the su-47 wouldnt know what hit it until its too late

i think you? did a good job with the vid. its not easy to keep a fighter jet on your cameras screen.

Two components of a moment of inertia are force (thrust) and distance from the fulcrum. The F22 has closer engines (distance from fulcrum) but much greater thrust. Mig 29s generally dont have thrust vectoring, if one does, it weighs more than one without it, ceteris paribus, you can guarantee it. A Mig 29 with 3D vectoring might weigh less than an F22 with 2D but that is anectodal and unrelated. Compare a Mig 29 with 3D to a Mig 29 with 2D and the 2D will be lighter, guaranteed, every? time.

What is wrong? F14 F15 engines are a lot further apart so yaw control with engine thrust is far easier. Can do it? on any multi engined transport also. Lighter weight than 3D thrust vectoring? Mig 29 with thrust vectoring is hugely lighter than the F22 so I am not sure what you mean. by the way, I have more than 12000 in high performance aircraft...........

Agreed. I already said that. I was trying to watch the plane, not the screen on my phone or point and click camera? (cant remember).

I thought that was what was so impressive, because it was so obviously aerodynamically departed, yet? still clearly under complete control. Just my opinion, though. Both are amazing planes.

Wrong. Its called split thrust maneuvering. Port engine to idle, starboard engine to mil-power (or AB if you wanna get wreckless) initiates yaw to the left. Same result, but more efficiently,? more reliably, less expensively, and with lighter weight, etc. etc. etc. than "3D" thrust vectoring. Good F14 Tomcats could do it well. Bad ones got in trouble with it. To see the effects of split thrust vectoring improperly applied, look up Kara Hultgreen.

that 21st century computing power constantly makes sure a dozen times a second that flat spin is well under control :) way to go science!?
By: Allanvh5150. on 23 Apr 11, 02:13:12
Flat spin yes, controlled under power no. F22 only has 2D thrust vector. Remember? a spin can be performed in any plane.

It's been quoted many times... the only time you'll see an F-22 on radar is when the weapons bay is open... as it's only open for a couple of seconds to allow a missile to be released,? by that time, you're pretty well pooched to begin with. F-22 specs outweigh SU-37 (156 kN normal operation vs 37's 145 kN afterburner) and the 37s Canards are making up for a design defect. ;) 22s internal stores allow for less drag etc... All in all... 22 > 37.

no, only an F-15 and? an F/A-18 have been lost this month. But that doesn't matter, right? ;)

compared to the eurofighter demos, this thing looks really? heavy and sluggish ...

37 Terminator? Flanker. Its a experimental. Don't insult F-22 its still immature.
