Remains of old colliery line bridge -- Pastures Mexborough/Denaby
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 60 seconds
Not really much to see here, but I reckon most people pass here not know this old bridge remnant is there. It's situated along the long chalk/limestone path heading east towards Denaby from Pastures Road on the popular cycle route. I think it linked the DVR with Denaby Colliery before the river Dearne was re-routed. If anyone has further info please post.

Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 264 seconds
Shot on January 8th. The main building is almost gone and it's quite surprising how big this plot looks now. I grabbed a quick view from the side and rear too, it's gonna be quite interesting to see this site develop...

Station Road Mexborough prior to new building work: November2011
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 85 seconds
Just a quick video I grabbed showing the remains on the United Carpet store as viewed from the Railway Station Bridge. This whole area looks like it will be changed beyond all recognition soon with the building of a new Supermarket and Petrol Station. Not that interesting really for some, but I think it's important to show what was here prior to the work starting.

Doncaster Railways Station - old Network Rail offices?
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 173 seconds
Not quite sure what these are, but I think they belong to Network Rail. I love these old red brick type buildings, although there's nothing really distinguishing about them, small, low and square. I'm not sure what that structure is right at the beginning and the end of the video, it looks like some old kind of gateway or entrance?

Remains of St Thom's Hospital Doncaster: 1558
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 149 seconds
I can't find much information on this except that Thomas Ellis (Alderman?) was a philanthropist who was active in local affairs and business in south Yorkshire; he was born at the very end of the medieval period. These remains are just off Chequer Road to the left of the museum in a small park. I'd love to know more about the history of this piece, so please help me out so I can post it here.

Spooky deserted Farm at Park Lane, Conisbrough (Parks) -- Barn, Part 5
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 357 seconds
Please see other video parts for more buildings and main description. Beautiful old barn building made of fantastic old weathered stone. Lots of holes in the crumbling walls, roof slates missing and smashed, but wonderful character -- I'd have loved to have seen this place when it was first built.

Spooky deserted Farm at Park Lane, Conisbrough (Parks) -- Demolished house, Part 4
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 146 seconds
Please see other video parts for more buildings and main description. This looks like some kind of entrance building to the farmyard, I think it's too small to be a proper dwelling, but it looks like it had a staircase and chimney so may have been lived/stayed in?

Spooky deserted Farm at Park Lane, Conisbrough (Parks) -- Wooden hut, Part 3
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 111 seconds
Please see other video parts for more buildings and main description. I don't know what this was used for; maybe as a store but it looks a bit too vulnerable for that. Now it's just full of rubbish and junk and well on its way to collapsing unfortunately. Just to the rear is an old water or fuel tank store which it's elevated on brick stilts (which I really liked!).

Spooky deserted Farm at Park Lane, Conisbrough (Parks) -- Outbuildings, Part 2
Posted by: MexboroughBuildings
Video duration: 154 seconds
Please see other video parts for more buildings and main description. These outbuildings are situated surrounding the main courtyard; it looks like they were garages, stables, store rooms and maybe a type of greenhouse? I just love the old red brickwork on some of these buildings.

How many miles of this? And what replaced this, any background as to the history of why? How long ago and what? happened to the wood on the tracks I wonder? Silly questions but I'm interested and not from the UK.
