For sure. These? kinds of projects are a challenge for even the most skilled sculptors.

for simplified copies of live objects that will do, but I'm talking about? exact copies of people from the past... such things.

I can't speak for Madame Tussauds specifically, but the use of CNC equipment is widespread? in the theming and attractions industries. Check out our website to see some of the work that our system has helped with.

We certainly wouldn't suggest that CNC carving replaces what a skilled sculptor can achieve, but? it definitely can improve the efficiency and accuracy of the sculptural process. Many companies/sculptors use CNC carving to create a foundation for their project, and then use a variety of materials and manual methods to create the exact look they want to achieve. Rather than replacing the artist, it's about blending technology and artistry.

When we refer to 'sculpting', we're going with the dictionary definition..."to fashion (something) into a 3 dimensional figure" or "to create or represent (something) by carving, casting, or other shaping techniques". This obviously encompasses a range of techniques, including both manual and? automated methods.

sculpting is not appropriate word for 3D? NC machine, cause you need to add material mostly and remove small amounts later. I mean not only nose holes but also left right sides of nostrils where they meet cheeks. You can't reach it. The same problem with ear and other places. Why do you think people at Madame Tussauds don't use NC machines? Try to think it over more deeply. There are a lot of reasons...

Good day Tmaker. Our equipment? automates sculpting and carving processes. This particular piece was created with the FROGMill - nose and all. When you refer to 'additional moves' are you talking about undercuts?

I think you are misusing words sculpting and carving here. It's milling definitely. - any level of detail -? it's impossible to make nose right on 3D NC machine without additional moves.

This particular piece was milled with a roughing pass using a larger? bit, and then a finishing pass using a smaller bit to bring out the detail. A piece of this size would typically take about 5 hours using rotational milling, but could be less depending on the level of detail required. There was limited post-machining done here, just some light sanding once milling was complete on the FROGMill. Cheers!

Was there any post machining done on this? piece? How long did it take to make this piece?
